Software Upgrades and Maintenance
How it all works
Annual Software Releases
The way we release our software is a little different to other software companies, but we think it provides the most flexible choices for our customers. At the beginning of each calendar year we release annual software versions for all our products that are the result of the previous year’s R&D efforts. Often developed in conjunction with our users (but not always), these are major features that we consider to set our products apart from the competition, and keeps you ahead of the herd. Each year we charge an upgrade price to gain access to these new features, but if users choose not to upgrade they don’t have to.
We believe that when people pay for software they should be able to use it. While we would like to think that we do our best to provide bug free software, we know that we can’t test it like our users do and bugs occasionally slip through the net. Bug Fixing is our priority. We employ embedded reporting tools in our software which ensure direct reporting for customers on current releases of software, and even for the year following if you choose not to upgrade. All active bugs are reported in the user area so they can be tracked into release builds.
All users on the current annual feature release of software are entitled to, and encouraged to submit feature enhancement requests. These are small changes to our software that would benefit everyone such as productivity and UI enhancements. Each week our support team sit down and discuss these features and subject to acceptance criteria, these features are either added to a task list for inclusion in the current year’s release or the next annual release.
We put a lot of effort into maintaining and improving our software and we like to make updates available as soon as possible. We create and release a weekly development build, so that bug fixes and feature improvements can be field tested by the people that requested them, and other customers that are on the current annual feature release stream. Bug fix builds are available to all users of current and previous year’s software.
