Hello! Exporting a mask is quite straightforward. Just connect a Footage Export node to your mask, then open the Masks tab. From there, enable the mask export, choose your desired file path, and configure the export settings.
Quick tip: The magenta and cyan connectors on nodes indicate compatibility with Roto, Enhance, and Keyer nodes.
@Adam Hawkes. Following up on this, what about masks that originate from the Clip input node. For examle, more recently I'm using maks generated from other software and adding them from the Clip Input node. I'm not using ST-maps in my workflow and when I use the File Export node, the mask does not pipe through (doesn' show up in the masks section). I've run into problems when I use the undistorted footage because the mask no longer matches the undistorted footage for reuse. Is there a way to export "distorted" masks to match othe original clip file export?
Export both the undistort and redistortST-maps, even if you don't plan to use them elsewhere in your workflow.
Next, import your mask sequence as a clip into a ‘Clip Input’ node (not the Mask tab).
In the Undistort tab, use the ‘From ST-map’ option to undistort your mask using the previously exported map. Now you can export the mask as a sequence with the undistort applied, which will correctly align with the undistorted footage.
If needed, you can also use PFTrack to send your composited plate back through the same process, reapplying the original lens distortion using the redistort ST-map.
