Very confused about target number (Auto Track)
Hi,
So I just upgraded to the subscription model (been using 2017 for years). However, I'm a little confused by the Target Number in the Auto Track node, as it appears to do absolutely nothing, and sometimes it even just resets to the default of 40. Could anyone shed any light please as videos I've watched never mention it :-/

Hi Paul,
When you run Auto Track, PFTrack generates a very large number of candidate points (these are the red, yellow and green dots) which are then filtered down to create the final set of trackers, and the "Target Number" specifies how many final trackers it should try to create.
You can change the Target Number either before or after tracking. After you've generated some trackers, if you think you need more, then increase the target number and PFTrack will automatically update everything without having to re-track from the start, provided there are enough suitable features in the footage.
If there aren’t enough features, increasing this value might not appear to do much so make sure to check the Coverage panel and see if there are any dips in the graph that indicate problematic frames in need of some attention.
If you’re not getting enough tracking points, it’s worth switching to Supervised Tracking using the User Track node for more control.
